Portion Control

Portion control is basically being aware of how much meal you consume at a time, and how much calories are contained in them. Portion control is very essential for weight loss and weight management.

TIPS TO CONTROL YOUR PORTION

AT HOME
• Serve your food in your own plate instead of eating from a big bowl with others.

. Use smaller plates in serving your food.

  • Never wait to be too hungry before eating. Snack or drink water in between main meals. (Eat at least 4 to 6 small frequent meals).
  • Share your fruits/vegetables and also other foods into their appropriate amounts (best done using a portion control plate).

EATING OUT
• Share any meal served you into 2 halves (eat only a part)

  • When ordering, order only small portions of meals (order half portion if not too sure of amount).
  • Drink at least a glass of water before meal.  It will help fill you quickly
  • Eat slowly. This helps your brain detects when you’re full earlier.
  • Avoid the urge to add extra.

IMPORTANCE OF PORTION CONTROL
Portion control amongst others is a major factor in any weight loss journey. This is because your weight is a direct function of the number of calories you eat or drink.

When portions of meals are carefully monitored, you tend to decrease the amount of food that you eat which consequently reduces the amount of calories that you consume making it easier to burn them off excess calories or maintain current weight.
